ABC Unit

Our first unit has come and gone! We spent the last 3 weeks engaged in an ABC unit. We practiced writing in our ABC handwriting books, did word sorts that classified and categorized consonant sounds, applied those words into complete sentences and did many art projects that tied to the literature that we read. The first week, we read The Alphabet Book by Leo Lionni. In the book, the letters on the leaves learn that they are stronger when they make words. Thus, we made our own class alphabet tree. We also read and made our own Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom trees inspired by Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom by Bill Martin Jr. Lastly, we read Harold's Purple Crayon Adventure by Crockett Johnson and made our very own Room 33's Purple Crayon Adventure Book.
We are excited to move onto our next unit....Eric Carle!
Stay tuned!

Hi Miss Cuenca,

Thank you for having a blog of the Room 33 activities. I will make it a point to check the blog after each unit.

Shelley loves these books! I am sure she had a lot of fun with that unit. She also came back home with many new songs lately. Thank you!
